Seth Rogen and Sebastian Stan Turn to the Tonal Suit

This week, the cast of Hulu’s Pam & Tommy hit the red carpet to mark the finale of their extremely 1990s miniseries. And the show’s two leading men—Sebastian Stan as Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Seth Rogen as shady contractor Rand Gauthier—brought their fashion A-game. Luckily, both Rogen and Stan left their characters’ preferred wardrobes—man thongs and baggy jorts, respectively—on set. Instead, they opted for particularly fun take on a more formal look: colorful tonal suits.

This was Rogen’s latest high-grade suit moment: you might remember that, for the show’s premiere in January, he donned a slouchy gray number from Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God. This time around, he went with an unfussy suit from British label Paul Smith. It’s not quite as deliberately oversized a fit as before, but no one would mistake it for a skinny cut. The real statement here is the color: a delightful shade of burnt orange that you don’t often see applied to a suit. Plus, the patch pockets on the blazer are a nice casual touch.

Stan, meanwhile, opted for a tonal look in a more dramatic shade. He chose a velvety blush Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo paired with a silky pink shirt—a more saturated shade than we’re used to seeing him in. Within the last week, the ever-busy Stan had been mixing more subdued shades of navy and black at events for his latest movie. (He did wear a scorching red suit the previous month, though.) It makes sense: if there was ever a time to don a plush pink suit, it’s closing out the promotional run for a project where he plays a guy who was not shy about wearing colored velvet on the red carpet.

Rogen and Stan showed two wildly different ways to wear tonal formalwear. Rogen went slightly utilitarian in an earthy tone; Stan went with grandeur and statement color. On the red carpet, at least, you can choose to dress in the color of a terracotta pot or the Pink Panther—either way is a win.
